Did you see the dutch door card I created using the Thoughtful Journey Suite?  Well, I replicated the card design with the Nests of Winter Suite and I am very pleased with the outcome.

This card began with wanting to use the birch-tree forest patterned paper from the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper pack and then adding bright pops of colour on an otherwise neutral background.  So, with that in mind, I used a coordinating card base of Gray Granite and added texture to the front with the lovely Birch Wood 3D Embossing Folder.

The pretty hand-sketched bird images in the Winterly Tree Tops Bundle were just asking for those bright pops of colour I wanted to add to the card front.  In fact, the colours of these birds were inspired by one of the patterned papers in the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper pack.

Twelve sheets of patterned paper: 6 each of 2 double-sided designs

I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Basic White cardstock and die-cut it out with the matching dies.  The birds were coloured with Pool Party, Gray Granite, and Peach Pie Stampin' Blends and I used the Colour Lifter to soften the edges of the colour where it meets the white breast of the bird.  The branch was coloured with Copper Clay and Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends.

And, I didn't forget a little bling.  I scattered three Very Vanilla faceted gems from the Earth Tones Shimmer Gems to frame the stamped words.

Inside this dutch door card, I just had to add one more adorable bird... how cute is that?

I love this mix of cool, wintery colours with rich reds and yellows.  Oh, and those adorable birds!  The Nests of Winter Suite is stunning and one of my new favourites.  I can't wait to share more projects with you!
