Butterfly Flight Hot Foil Dies + Butterfly Flight Decorative Masks Bundle (170065) - $95.25
I adapted Julie DiMatteo’s Sticky Note Holder design and created it using Pool Party cardstock. It is such a fun design that holds 3” square sticky notes and has a handy pen holder underneath. I decorated the front pocket of mine with one of the pretty patterned papers from the Whispering Woods Designer Series Paper pack and that cute “a little note” from the Thinking of You stamp set stamped underneath – so appropriate!
Psst… did you know? The Whispering Woods Designer Series Paper is this year’s Product Giveback from Stampin’ Up! With every purchase of this patterned paper pack, Stampin’ Up! will donate $4.50 NZD to local organisations to help spread a little holiday cheer.

The wow-factor of this Sticky Note Holder is definitely those butterflies! I hot foiled the amazing Butterfly Flight Dies in Gold Foil onto Basic White cardstock and used the coordinating Butterfly Flight Decorative Masks in blue-greens and mustard yellow, inspired by the lovely colour palette of the Whispering Woods Designer Series Paper. The layered ink colours are Pool Party, Pretty Peacock, and Golden Glow, easily applied through the masks with Small Blending Brushes.
Once the butterflies were fully coloured and die-cut, I added them to the front pocket of the Sticky Note Holder using Tombow Glue behind the bodies and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the wings. This method of adhesion makes the butterflies look like they are lifting off – it’s all about the finishing touches!
Speaking of finishing touches, when you remove the sticky notes, you’ll find gorgeous texture underneath. This is Pretty Peacock Two-Tone cardstock embossed using the Softly Woven 3D Embossing Folder and then lightly sanded to reveal the white behind. Love this!

Those butterflies are my favourite part of this project, and the Stampin’ Hot Foil System is what gives them their sparkle. Foiling the bodies and outlines in gold, then colouring the wings through the masks, gives such an elegant finish. If you’ve been wondering what you’d make with a Hot Foil System, the Butterfly Flight Bundle is a wonderful place to start. No Hot Foil System? No problem – the Butterfly Flight Decorative Masks are available separately and are fabulous on their own, and the fourth mask in the set is for the butterfly body, so you can use it with the other three to create a complete butterfly.
