Garden Gatherings Masked Scalloped Window Box

If you’ve been reading my blog over the years, you’ll know I absolutely love, love, love the pre-cut packaging that Stampin’ Up! releases. They’re quick to assemble, so much fun to personalise, and even more fun to fill! This Scalloped Window Box is no exception. Its pizza-box style makes it perfect for jewellery, cookies (yes, it’s food safe!), baby booties, or perhaps a pretty handkerchief and luxury soap.

These gift boxes begin as a crisp white blank canvas. For this project, I first masked the window by die-cutting a perfectly sized scalloped circle from Masking Paper using the Scalloped Blooms Dies.

The beautiful Water & Dotted Lines Decorative Masks measure a generous 12” × 12”, making them ideal for larger projects like these gift boxes or even full scrapbook pages. I placed the Water Decorative Mask over the box and blended Barely Blush ink through it with a Blending Brush.

Now for the magic! Before lifting the mask away, I traced one edge of each shape with the Barely Blush Shimmer Brush. Not only does it create beautiful depth and shadow, but it also catches the light with the prettiest shimmer!

The Water Decorative Mask naturally lends itself to blues for a flowing water effect, but don’t let the name fool you. In soft Barely Blush, it takes on a completely different look—more like smooth pebbles or gentle stone textures—which I absolutely love.

To finish decorating the box, I turned to the Garden Gatherings Bundle. The flower stem was stamped in Barely Blush and Peaceful Pine inks onto Basic White cardstock, while the vase was white heat-embossed onto Vellum and layered beside the window. Look closely, and you’ll even spot “water” in the vase! That’s simply a quick swipe of Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend on the reverse side of the vellum—a tiny detail that makes such a difference.

If you’ve never tried these pre-cut boxes before, this is a wonderful place to start. Pair them with decorative masks, experiment with different colour combinations, and add your favourite stamped images to create something uniquely yours. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
