This project is a wonderful fusion of a tri-fold card and a dutch door card, creating a layered, dimensional scene with plenty of wow-factor.  I’ve used the Scenic Adventure Bundle to design a masculine, outdoor-themed birthday card.

Scenic Adventure Stamp Set + Scenic Adventure Dies Bundle (photopolymer: 165468) - $105.25

The front of the card features Pool Party Two-Tone Cardstock, stamped with the ripple-texture image from the Scenic Adventure stamp set in Pool Party ink to resemble a lake.  I love using Two-Tone Cardstock here for two reasons:

1. It’s lightweight, which helps when building up lots of layers.
2. It has a printed exterior with a white core—so when you tear it, you get that rustic, irregular white edge. Such a simple technique, but it adds so much texture and character!

Behind the stamped lake, I layered trees, a forest silhouette, and mountains, with subtle stamped clouds in the sky to complete the scene.  Let’s open the card...

The front panel is only half-height (the “dutch door”), so when you lift it, more of the forest and mountain layers are revealed, along with extra space for a stamped sentiment.  The mountain itself has a fabulous textured look—created with wood-grain patterned paper from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper.  Clever, right?

And then, opening the tri-fold card fully...

... reveals a generous space to write a personal message.  The lower edge of this white section is torn too.  In fact, every panel in this tri-fold card has a torn Two-Tone Cardstock border along the bottom, tying the whole project together beautifully.

This adventure-inspired card design is perfect for masculine birthdays, but the style would also work for so many other themes: think neighbourhood houses with lamp posts and trees, or rambling gardens with flowers, gates, and a garden shed.  Truly, the possibilities are endless!
