Last month, I hosted what I like to call a Scrapbooking Escape—a full day dedicated to creativity, connection, and completing beautiful scrapbook pages. It was a chance for everyone who attended to take a break from everyday life and indulge in some well-deserved creative time.
For the June event, we crafted with the versatile Weekend Adventures Scrapbooking Workshop Kit from Stampin’ Up!—and it was such a joy to create all three double layouts!
Weekend Adventures Scrapbooking Kit (167315) - $78.00
Makes three two-page 12" x 12" scrapbook spreads
At first, completing three double-page layouts might sound like a lot, but it’s completely achievable with detailed instructions, a bit of inspiration, and the creative energy in the room. In fact, everyone who attended finished all their layouts with photos and journaling included—what a win!
Let me show you my first layout using the Weekend Adventures Scrapbooking Workshop Kit...
This first spread sets the scene for a little family adventure. We spent the day exploring the stunning Karangahake Gorge, which included a walk through the historic rail tunnel and along breathtaking, bush-lined tracks. I chose two 6" x 4" landscape photos that really capture the feel of the day and help tell the story.

Why these photos? Well, not only did the Weekend Adventures kit fit the outdoor theme perfectly, but the colours in the photos complemented the kit's colour scheme beautifully. That said, this kit isn’t just for hikes and nature walks—it’s incredibly versatile! It also works for things like sports events, camping trips, or even masculine birthdays. Simply swap or skip the “outdoor” embellishments and tailor it to your own story.
Speaking of embellishments… I love the layered banners, chevrons, and circles in these layouts! They don’t distract from the photos—instead, they add visual interest and help guide the eye around the page in a natural, meaningful way.

The second layout continues the same woodgrain background and playful clusters, tying the spread together beautifully. This page features three overlapping 3" x 4" portrait photos, continuing the narrative of our Karangahake Gorge adventure.

I had so much fun creating these layouts with the Weekend Adventures Scrapbooking Workshop Kit, and it was even more special to complete them alongside such a lovely, inspiring group of scrapbookers. I can’t wait to share the other two double-page layouts from this same outing with you soon—watch this space!
