Reflecting on Waitangi Day

Today we commemorate the first signing of New Zealand's founding document, Te Tiriti o Waitangi (The Treaty of Waitangi) on 6 February 1840.  While the day can be marked with celebrations and festivities, it is also a time for reflection and acknowledging the complex history of the Treaty and its ongoing impact on the relationship between Māori and Pākehā.

Reflecting on Waitangi Day

Ko ngā pae tawhiti whāta kia tata, ko ngā pae tata, whakamaua kia tina.
The potential for tomorrow depends on what we do today.
