I had so much fun designing this masculine birthday card! I started with an idea to create a pop-out 3D scene on the front of a card, that would fold flat for posting. And in that scene, I wanted to capture the layers of the sea and the essence of the delightful On the Ocean stamp set and coordinating On the Ocean Dies. And here is where that idea finished...
Stamps: On the Ocean (cling: 160772). Ink: Balmy Blue (147105), Pebbled Path (161648), White (147277). Card/Paper: Balmy Blue (147007), Pebbled Path (161731), Basic White (159228), Vellum (106584). Tools: Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (149653), On the Ocean Dies (160774), Sponge Daubers (133773), Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430).
On the Ocean Stamp Set (cling: 160772) - $49.00
On the Ocean Dies (160774) - $76.00
For the front layer, I die-cut Balmy Blue cardstock with the wave dies and stamped it with the beautiful wave stamp in Balmy Blue ink. Sandwiched in the middle layer is Vellum, also die-cut with the wave dies. This box-shaped tubing is adhered to the bottom of the card front and folds up so the card is flat for posting.
For the back layer, which is actually the card front, I stamped the ship and birds in Balmy Blue ink and the pretty clouds using the White Craft Stampin' Pad. I really like how the white ink dries semi-transparent and gives a lovely, subtle finish.
And then the pièce de résistance... that stunning ship! The main pieces were die-cut from Pebbled Path cardstock and the sails were from Basic White cardstock. I then sponged Pebbled Path ink around all the die-cut pieces using a Sponge Dauber before constructing the ship and adding it to the vellum layer using Stampin' Dimensionals. I love how all the stamped and die-cut elements of the On the Ocean stamp set and coordinating On the Ocean Dies came together to create this fun pop-out scene card. It is sure to please the recipient!
