Wishing you and your family a happy New Year. I hope your holidays are filled with memory-making times, lots of fun and happiness! Kristine
For those family members that are not 'cardies', I made up some of my favourite cards from the past few months and gave them and some envelopes as a Christmas gift. This is the box that I made to put them in. Stamps: Priceless (116402). Card/Paper: Whisper White (106549), Chocolate Chip (108599), Ruby Red (106572), Candy Lane DSP (113980). Ink: Ruby Red (102259), VersaMark (102283). Accessories: Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (109051), White Embossing Powder (109132). Tools: Scallop Circle Punch (109043). Horizontal Slot Punch (105089), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).
This box is based on a pull-up treat holder but, instead of a pouch, it is a thin box. You don't undo the ribbon at the top, but pull it up and out pops the cards (or anything else you put in there).
Inside are six cards, two each of three different designs, plus matching envelopes. I have found this to be a great way of packaging cards and adds a bit of flair to the gift. I have stamped this box using stamps from Life Definitions ("just because" is a good reason for giving cards!) and Priceless stamp sets.
In January we will be making Valentines Pull-up Treat Holders for chocolate bars using this stamp set but, instead of flowers, we will use the heart image from Priceless.

I couldn't post this black and white Christmas card earlier as I made it for my husband. This came out of a challenge to make a card using mainly black and white, which I struggled with as black is not a colour I use a lot. So consequently, this card is really different from any other cards I have done lately. I really like the resulting card. Stamps: Season of Joy (113023). Card/Paper: Basic Black (106561), Whisper White (106549), Real Red (106578). Ink: Basic Black (101179), Real Red (103133). Accessories: Basic Black 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109027), Basic Black Jumbo Grommet (114348). Tools: Mat Pack (105826), Bone Folder (102300), Dimensionals (104430). Non-SU!: Stick-on Rhinestones.
This is probably my last Christmas card. In some way I am pleased as Christmas can seem such a long time when you start Christmas cards in October! However as I put my Season of Joy stamp set away for another year, I realise that I am going to miss this stamp set and making Christmas cards. Till next year...
The words of this stamp from the God's Blessings stamp are perfect for this time of the year... Wishing you peace, hope and joy this Christmas season. Merry Christmas. Kristine
This card was inspired by a design that one of the ladies that attended my December workshop stamped on the front of her altered notepad. It reminds me of an over-grown garden that has just been disturbed. Stamps: For Everything (116686). Card/Paper: Brocade Blue (108608), So Saffron (108611), Whisper White (106549). Ink: Brocade Blue (101102), So Saffron (105213). Accessories: So Saffron 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (from September's Ribbon Bundle Promotion).
I made a few of these little cards and those who placed an order in December got one of them as my thanks to them. I really like the versatility of this stamp set and I think I will be using it a lot.

This week was my nephews birthday and I used two sweet treat cups to create this card. I got the idea to use rolled licorice for the car wheels from Julia Leece's card and added a trap-door on the inside so that the licorice can be taken out without destroying the card. Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes (115780), Totally Tabs (116428). Card/Paper: Tempting Turquoise (108598), Real Red (106578), Basic Gray (111859), Basic Black (106561), Whisper White (106549). Ink: Real Red (103133), Basic Black (101179), Real Red Stampin' Write Marker (100052), Yoyo Yellow Stampin' Write Marker (100050). Accessories: Sweet Treat Cups (116802). Tools: 1-3/4" Circle Punch (112004), Scallop Circle (109043), 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401), Boho Blossums Punch (110711), Daubers (102892), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).
As a small Christmas treat, I gave everyone who attended the December workshops last week a candy cane with a little stamped tag. Stamps: Punches Three (Level 1 Hostess). Card/Paper: Pumpkin Pie 108601), Whisper White (106549). Ink: Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker (100079), Real Red Stampin' Write Marker (100052). Accessories: Whisper White 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109025). Tools: Scallop Square Punch (112081), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).
I had fun co-ordinating the colours of the tags to the colours in the candy canes. These are very simple to mass-produce and great to give as small gifts.
At our workshops in the past week, I have given everyone an opportunity to play with the new Butterfly Prints stamp set and the co-ordinating Butterfly punch. This is the little make-and-take that anyone who attended my workshops got to make: Stamps: Buttefly Prints (117711). Card/Paper: Kiwi Kiss (116204), Whisper White (106549), Pixie Pink (108596), So Saffron (108611), Pumpkin Pie (108601). Ink: Kiwi Kiss (111835), Pixie Pink (105212), So Saffron (105213), Pumpkin Pie (105216). Tools: Butterfly Punch (116629), 1-1/4" Square Punch (104400).
Do you call a group of butterflies a bouquet? That is what it reminds me of! For our January workshops we will be using this stamp set and punch again. - Click HERE to contact me to get your own Summer Mini Catalogue or to place an order for the new Butterfly Prints stamp set and co-ordinating punch.

I have been playing with the new buttons and grommets from the Summer Mini. I made a Christmas easel card with both of these (keep an eye out for easel cards in the January workshops). Stamps: Season of Joy (113023). Card/Paper: Very Vanilla (106550), Old Olive (106576), Real Red (106578). Ink: Old Olive (102277), Real Red (103133), Bashful Blue (105209). Accessories: Very Vanilla Small Grommets (114349), Very Vanilla Jumbo Grommets (114348), Real Red and Old Olive Buttons from Playground (116313), Bashful Blue Buttons from Sherbet (116312), Linen Thread (104199), 5/8" Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon (109052), Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter (102023). Tools: Large Oval Punch (107305), Scallop Oval Punch (retired), Bone Folder (102300), Mat Pack (105826), Brayer (102395), Daubers (102892), 2-way Glue Pen (100425), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Mini Glue Dots (103683). Techniques: Masking.
The buttons I used on this card were Bashful Blue from the Sherbet pack, also Real Red and Old Olive from the Playground pack. Playground has the colours: Tempting Turquiose, Real Red, More Mustard and Old Olive. Sherbet has: Pretty in Pink, Cetainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Pumpkin Pie. I also used small and jumbo grommets on the Christmas easel card. Grommets are designer hardware that we haven't seen in a New Zealand catalogue before. In the Summer Mini you can get grommets in two sizes - Jumbo (approx. 2.5 cm in diametre) and Small (approx. 1.3 cm in diametre). These come in a mixture of Basic Black, Silver, Very Vanilla and Whisper White. Please note that the picture in the Summer Mini says is shows the grommets at 100%, which is incorrect. The picture of the grommets is really 65% actual size. - Click HERE to see Catalogue Corrections and Write-Ins
Here is a small grommet: And then there are the jumbo grommets. I have used a jumbo grommet on this stamped candle. Stamps: Upsy Daisy (115898). Ink: Night of Navy (102977). Accessories: Whisper White Jumbo Grommets (114348), So Saffron 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (from September's Ribbon Bundle Promotion). Tools: Heat Tool (106586).
Grommets are set by placing your card on the foam mat from the Mat Pack and pressing the prongs on the back of the grommet through the card. Then you turn the card over and use a bone folder to turn the prongs over. Very easy to do. In the case of the candle, I just gently bent the grommet to match the curve of the candle, then pressed the prongs into the wax.

Oooh, I just love the new Butterfly Prints stamp set in the Summer Mini and the co-ordinating punch. I think the stamped butterflies are lovely designs and I also like the way that it has the butterfly body as a 2-step stamping process. And the punch fits perfectly. But did you know that this butterfly punch also co-ordinates with a stamp set that we already have? The four large butterflies from the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set in our current Idea Book & Catalogue (page 82) can be easily punched out with the Butterfly punch. Tomorrow there is a demonstrator gathering and, as you know, when we get together we like to do swaps, where we make a large number of one card or project and swap them for one of someone elses. For my swap I used the Butterfly Prints stamp set and mixed it up with the Upsy Daisy stamp set. I also used Baja Breeze, a colour that I haven't used much of and am very taken with now. Stamps: Butterfly Prints (117711), Upsy Daisy (115898). Card/Paper: Baja Breeze (116207), Whisper White (106549). Ink: Baja Breeze (111833), Pixie Pink (105212). Tools: Butterfly Punch (116629), 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Stamp-a-ma-jig (101049). Techniques: Masking.
The layout for this butterfly card was inspired by a card that I made about a month ago. This Upsy Daisy card design comes from the Australian Stamping, Cardmaking & Papercraft Magazine (Vol 15 No 4), but I changed up the DSP and colours. - Click HERE to contact me to get your own Summer Mini Catalogue or to place an order for the Butterfly Prints stamp set and co-ordinating punch.
